TEMP-Business Ops Support/ Admission Advisor I
The “Part-Time Reader” will read and evaluate assigned applications for Georgia Tech’s Office of Undergraduate Admission. Part-time readers complete initial review of all first-year applicants. In some cases, part-time readers will be asked to assist with additional portions of first-year applicant review. Duties for part-time readers include the evaluation of admission applications and supporting materials.
Part-time readers will report to one of three Senior Assistant Directors of Undergraduate Admission. Interested candidates can apply through https://hr.gatech.edu/careers. Complete initial training and on-going training, as required
Holistically evaluate applications for first-year admission and recommend decisions to help the Institute meet enrollment goals.
Become adept at reviewing high school transcripts and high school profiles.
Evaluate personal essays and accompanying recommendation letters.
Evaluate varied extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and work experiences. Assess the quality and depth of these experiences.
Appreciate the differences between applicants’ personal backgrounds (first generation, rural/urban, etc.)
Understand the demands of a Georgia Tech education and understand the enrollment priorities of the Institute
In some cases, learn about international credentials and a variety of international contexts and apply this information to the holistic application review process
This is a temporary hybrid/remote part-time position lasting approximately 5-6 months (estimated October 1 to March 31, pending work assignments) with no benefits. *Pending the number of first-year applications received, part-time readers’ work may be completed early February.
Part-time readers will not work fall and winter holiday weeks or other days that are observed as official holidays by the Institute.
Part-time readers must commit to a minimum of 20 hours a week (except for weeks that include Institute holidays). Part-time readers will work no more than 32 hours per week, and hours are contingent upon the volume of applications received.
Part-time readers are expected to complete their work primarily during business hours of Monday- Friday, 8am- 5pm (pending time zone). Later in the review cycle, readers may have some opportunity to fulfill hours during evenings or weekends.
Training and work will be conducted entirely remotely and should take place ONLY with secure internet connection from your residence.
The starting pay rate is $22 an hour.
Part-time readers must complete an online bi-weekly timesheet to receive compensation.
Bachelor’s degree

Successful completion of background check (required for final candidates)
Experience reviewing high school or college admission files, resumes, transcripts or employment applications
Proficiency with selective and holistic college admissions
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Teams, and one Drive
Experience with Enrollment Management Software platforms such as Technolutions- SLATE
Experience reviewing international applicants, familiarity with international curricula and non-US based curricula, or an eagerness to learn about and understand the various educational systems around the world.
Given the sensitive nature of the admission selection process and to avoid any potential conflicts of interest:
Part-time readers may not be the parent, guardian, or immediate family member of a rising high school 11th- 12th grader who is planning to apply to college (to Georgia Tech or elsewhere).
A part-time reader cannot be employed by another university, any high school, or any organization that provides college counseling support of any type, nor can they be employed independently in work that provides personal college counseling support of any type.
Due to time commitment, a part-time reader cannot be a full-time employee of another company.

Bachelor’s Degree and two to four years of experience.
Knowledge of and experience with computer systems and programs such as Technolutions, Slate or similar.
Knowledge of and experience in the admissions field and interpreting policies and procedures to prospective students and the university community.
Understanding and practice of NACAC’s Guide to Ethical Practices and applicable Federal policies such as FERPA, etc.
A candidate should be comfortable with these duties and should be able to execute them on a regular basis.
Understanding territory management concept of recruitment and how to utilize data for decision making and travel strategy.
Responsible for planning and conducting robust travel & relationship building in assigned territory.
May direct the work of or supervise students and/or interns as assigned.
Responsible for a review of a full load of applications through initial review and committee, as assigned.
Takes initiative for facilitating collaboration with other OUA team members and external partners as required.
Help develop and implement special recruitment events in collaboration with Campus Visits Team, both on and off campus, possibly including, volunteer management, campus partner participation and event logistics, as needed.
Represent the Institute in a professional and positive manner at all recruitment and other functions.
Have a Valid Driver’s License and the ability to travel (sometimes driving long distances requiring overnight stays). Weekend and evening hours required.
Ability to lift 30 pounds.

The expected salary range for an Admission Advisor II is $42,000-$58,000 commensurate with experience.
